However, many copy editors offer a clean manuscript discount (5-15% perhaps), so writers might want to keep that in mind. Good self-editing definitely cuts down on unnecessary word count too, making the cost easier to manage.

Also, if you use an editor, learn from what they tell you! You&#039;ll find out quickly what mistakes you&#039;re prone to making, and then you can edit self-edit those next time, saving yourself and your editor the headache of hearing/saying the same things over and over again.
