My guru, John Blandly, thinks you are fantastic . So does his writing group (Felicity Jones, Icy Rivers, B Sting and Pantson Fire. )

I have written 8 books and I feel like I still suck. I try to get people to read my stuff, but all I ever get is, “It’s okay.” No it’s not, there is something wrong with it, I am just too close to it to see it.

I’ve read this post twice now. I think I’ll read it a few more times. It’s not just about being “in it to win it” for me, or “finishing”, but also a bit of a problem with self worth going on that tells me I don’t deserve to follow my dream or get what I want. Yet even though I know that’s an issue I struggle with, reading your post makes it feel more like an excuse. Which is exactly what I need to be reminded of. I can finish without success. Another excuse is my weird ocd house cleaning habit. I’ve felt for ages that I can’t write in clutter or with chores piling up. But housework is NEVER done. I’m trying to tell myself to let it go. “I”m a writer, we have messy houses” is what I say to myself. It’s been working some. But every once in a while we need someone to push us forward and COMMIT! Thank you so much for this!

Well, Linda. I had the same answer, myself recently. I claimed I wanted the dream but let everything and anything be the priority. Sometimes we have to answer that question and also realize the answer can change. In certain seasons, I had to commit to other things (e.g. family). Now? If I want to do what I set out to? My habits have to change as well as my attitude. Either write for fun, or get back to a professional pace and professional priorities.
