I have not read anything so profound than this post. I am stunned. I always believed that technology would provide a terrific leverage for the betterment of humanity. Years ago I became soured with the commercialization of broadcast television. I viewed it as a lost opportunity with reality TV and the trash we have been fed as entertainment. I worked in sales. The mobile telephone was a force multiplier for my work. Once the cell phone “became smart” I again hoped for a better life. Alas the internet and its gateway technology has poisoned our humanity. I see no savior. We are on our own and have lost our rudder. I pray for us all.

As a retired person, I don’t have the application problem, but I do find the whole thing scary. And when the Big Bosses of AI companies are warning that we should slow down the R & D, it's worrying. Very worrying. And now there are some people, well qualified, not the lunatic fringe, saying AI could trigger the end of humanity. I've heard it said, by the end of this century. Let's hope the world comes to its senses, because, at the moment, the lunatics are running the asylum.
