Writing Sweet Romance: Romance Your Mother Could Read expired_event - Event is a Draft

Description:

Instructor: Cait Reynolds

Price:

Where: BadLamb Academy Digital Classroom

When:

Romance is like salsa. Some salsa is so mild it's closest cousin is ketchup. Others? WHY ARE YOU MACING YOURSELF?

To each their own.

Just like writing good high heat romance, writing sweet romance that won't trigger a diabetic reaction (or worse, an eye roll from the reader) requires a whole other skill set, from dialogue to description.

Topics covered include:

  • How harness reader imagination to up the heat (Using the 'fade to black,' 'cut to' or 'closed door effect' in lieu of explicit scenes)
  • Understanding and using body language for max effect
  • Crafting compelling and fresh storylines (no more bad retreads)
  • Generating tension and conflict (as opposed to the gag reflex)
  • Choosing the ideal POV (Point of View) to tell YOUR unique story (E.g. What is epistolatory form? Hint: Bridgette Jones' Diary)
  • Sweet doesn't mean insipid
  • How to write to a formula without being FORMULAIC (Yes, there IS a difference)
  • Overall, how to write romance your mother and maybe even Hallmark would LOVE!
  • AND MORE....

A recording of this class is also included with purchase.

About the Instructor:

Cait Reynolds is a USA Today Bestselling Author and lives in Long Beach, California with her very patient husband, a cranky old rescue mutt named Horseradish, and two insane Basenji puppies.

She likes history, astronomy, Jack Daniels, jewelry, pasta, and solitude. Not all at the same time. She has worked hard to develop a good relationship with the NSA agents in the van outside her house. They now understand that her Google searches and Amazon wish list are purely for research purposes.

Cait is also the co-host of the ‘divinely funny’ podcast, Drunk Mythology Gals, which severely limits which of her book characters she will be hanging with in the afterlife.
