Class Description:

In an industry deluged with bad, boring, derivative books, we (authors) have a leviathan task. Get audiences excited about books again!

Playing with genres is a fabulous way to gut hook an audience and pique insatiable curiosity.

In this class we’ll cover hot to merge genres in new and exciting ways. The goal is to create stories that are familiar enough to resonate, but unique enough to stand out from the pack.

We’re going to learn some rules, break some rules, then let the muse have FUN!

In this class, we will cover:

  • The major genres as well as their rules, expectations and constraints;
  • How to break those rules, when and why;
  • Blending genres for effect;
  • Ways to remake the old into new (e.g. retelling or modernizing old myths or fairytales);
  • How to flip the script. Storytelling from the “villain’s” perspective (e.g. Wicked);
  • And way more!

Remember, a FREE recording comes with purchase of the class. If you can’t make the time or you just want to be able to enjoy the class and rewatch for study later on, it doesn’t matter. We got you covered!
